A "mura" is a traditional grain storage container made out of straw. They vary in sizes to hold different amounts of rice, wheat, and even seeds. According to Ayurveda, grains should be stored in their hulls for at least one year before being consumed; otherwise, grains become abhisanna (difficult to digest, block the channels of the body.) A mura helps to keep the grains safe, dry, and free from insects while being stored.
